Moral values of the short story “Sinigang” by Villaceran.

” A single mistake can cause pain that last forever.”

– Tine

Similar to other story, “Sinigang” written by Marie Aubrey J. Villaceran conveys a lot of moral values to its readers. Yet, the most important lesson I’ve learned is that a single mistake of a person can ruin someone’s life. Liza’s father who committed adultery made his family broken as a consequence. In life we encounter numerous struggles that make us stronger, as we face them all let’s be wise in every single decision we would make. Once we commit a mistake we must be aware also on its consequences. It’s not enough that we knew our fault, that we admitted our mistakes. It is necessary that we have courage to face all of its outcome no matter what. We are free to say sorry to someone we hurt, yet it is not enough to completely heal the wounds in that person’s heart. We can ask for forgiveness but not everyone are capable to accept our reasons and give us another chance. Learn to appreciate your relationship with someone before it vanish.

As a 21st century learner the story reminds me upon the significance of honesty as the foundation of any relationship. It regards trust, open communication, forgiveness, respect, support and love to have an indestructible relationship. Liza’s life story illustrate how wretched the life of a person living in a broken family. Now I realized how blessed I am to have not a perfect but complete and joyous family. I learned to appreciate and protect the harmonious relationship of our family especially in times of pandemic.

” Family is a natural masterpiece.”
